Movie of the yearrrrrr. I didn’t believe it going in but baby, I’m on board!

I want to go to Camp Miasmaaaa. I want to have sex at Camp Miasmaaaa. I want to DIE at Camp Miasmaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!

What was it that Caroline Calloway said in her instagram caption commemorating her father’s death? "I am sexy and sexual and grief-stricken and shrewd and zany and romantic and generous and imaginative and manipulative..."

That is exactly how I was feeling while I sat in the theater for this one. It was genuinely a spiritual experience. I felt the presence of God in that damn Regency Cinema.

Where do I even start. I probably should’ve gotten my thoughts out sooner. Normally when I see something in theaters I like to furiously type out my review in the car before leaving but the heat has been so nasty that I was drenched with sweat almost immediately after entering my vehicle. Curse my poorly functioning AC.

This was my first time watching anything made by Jane Schoenbrun and wow. Their directorial style really clicks for me. The meta movie-within-a-movie thing? Obsessed. The tweaks to reality so you see more of the experience than the recorded history of events? Actually blew me away. I love when the lines are blurred and I ADORE when artists take creative leaps they don’t feel the need to explain in explicit terms. To me, Teenage Sex and Death’s messaging was obvious in many ways that avoided feeling overchewed. It’s a 500 piece jigsaw puzzle with painted sets and candy and bloody boobs bouncing everywhere.

Gillian Anderson…Hannah Einbinder…I’m free next Friday and I’m not doing anything if you two would like to come over I will wash my sheets and clean the baseboards and prepare a delicious meal of spaghetti and (meatless) meatballs with homemade marinara sauce and garlic breadsticks. Don’t worry if we all eat the garlic it won’t even matter if our breath stinks
