Well I’ve been curious about Douglas Sirk ever since I learned that he was one of Lynch’s inspirations. I think it’s important to pay attention to your favorite artists’ favorite artists. Magnificent Obsession was an interesting watch, but I’m not sure if it’s the right movie for me. I think it was just okay. Why doesn’t Gibby get to go to Japan? They just use that lil kid for laughs, chew him up and spit him out. We really could’ve used him here. Mrs. Benson is the WORST scene partner for Spencer. That freak needs Gibby to really shine as more than a B plot. I get why Mrs. Benson plays a role as a chaperone here or whatever, but God, I can’t stand her. Poor Freddie.
